How analytics tracking works

Promino’s analytics are built in, lightweight, and completely cookieless.

Overview

Analytics are built into Promino on the Grow and Scale plans - there is nothing to install. A lightweight script on your published site records pageviews and basic session data, with privacy designed in from the start.

What gets tracked

  • Pageviews - including navigations within your site.
  • Sessions - how long a visit lasts and whether it bounced (a single-page visit).
  • Banner activity - impressions and clicks for active banners.

Cookieless by design

Promino’s analytics do not use cookies and never store visitor IP addresses. Instead of identifying people, it counts unique visitors using a daily, anonymised fingerprint:

  • A visitor identifier is derived as a one-way hash that rotates every day, so visitors cannot be tracked across days.
  • Raw IP addresses are never stored - country is derived at the edge.
  • Because there are no tracking cookies, you typically don’t need a cookie banner for analytics.

Respecting visitor choices

Tracking honours browser privacy signals, including Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control, and an opt-out flag - so privacy-conscious visitors are not counted.

Data retention

Raw events are automatically purged after 90 days, while the summarised daily stats that power your dashboard are kept.
