Overview
Gallery sections are how you show off a set of images. You add them from the gallery category in the section library, source the images from your Media library, and every gallery automatically follows your branding - fonts, accent colour, button shape, spacing, and card radius.
The built-in lightbox
Every gallery uses the same built-in lightbox for viewing images at full size. Click any image and it opens full-screen over the page, with a thumbnail strip, an image counter, and zoom. Use the arrow keys to move between images and Esc to close - clicking the background closes it too. You do not need to set anything up; the lightbox is wired into each gallery for you.
Choosing a gallery layout
Asymmetric broken grid
An art-directed grid that places images at different sizes with intentional offsets and whitespace, for a designed, editorial feel rather than a uniform grid. It stays coherent as you add or remove images, so it suits design studios, photographers, and portfolios. Works best with around five to nine images of mixed orientation.
Full-bleed cinematic
Large, immersive images that run edge-to-edge, shown one-up and two-up with minimal chrome so each photo dominates. It looks intentional with as few as one or two images and scales up from there - ideal for hospitality, fashion, travel, and real estate. Use the Arrangement option to alternate single and paired rows, or force all one-up or all two-up.
Captioned figure grid
A magazine-style grid where each image is paired with a caption and an optional credit line, presented as figures. This is the gallery to reach for when each image deserves an explanation rather than just sitting in a wall of photos.
Add captions and credits
In the captioned figure grid, each image in the list has its own caption and credit fields:
- Add the Captioned figure grid section to your page.
- Select it and open the Figures group in the properties panel.
- For each figure, choose an Image from your media library.
- Type a Caption - a short line shown beneath the image.
- Optionally add a Credit line for attribution, such as a photographer or source.
The caption and credit appear beneath each figure in the grid, and they also carry into the lightbox - when a visitor opens an image full size, its caption and credit are shown there too. The credit is optional; leave it blank and only the caption shows.
Tips
- Add alt text to every image in the media library so galleries stay accessible.
- Mixed portrait and landscape images are fine; galleries crop and scale them to keep the layout tidy.
- For a dense wall of similar images, use the masonry or lightbox grid instead of the designed layouts.
