Overview
Localisation lets you publish one site in several languages. You build your site once in your website language, add the languages you want, and Promino AI translates every published page for you. It is available on the Scale plan.
Set your website language
Your website language is the language you build in - everything is translated from it. Set it in the Localisation tab, in the Website language card, before adding translations.
Add a language
- Open
Localisationfor your site. - In the Languages card, choose a language under Add a language. You can add up to five.
- The language appears in the list with its code, for example
Italian /it.
Translations are generated the next time you publish - they do not appear instantly when you add a language.
How translation works
When you publish a page, Promino AI translates its text, buttons, links, and SEO details (the page title and meta description) into each of your languages. On later publishes, only the text you actually changed is re-translated, so any wording you adjusted by hand is preserved. To learn how to review and edit translations, see Edit and publish translations.
Keep brand names untranslated
Use the Glossary card in the Localisation tab to list terms that should stay exactly the same in every language - your brand name, product names, and the like. Add one term per line.
How visitors get the right language
Each language lives on its own URL, prefixed with its code:
/en/for English,/it/for Italian,/de/for German, and so on.- A visitor who opens a plain link is automatically sent to the best match for their browser and location, and their choice is remembered for next time.
- A language switcher appears in your site’s footer so visitors can change language themselves.
Search engines
Each language is a separate, indexable URL. Promino adds hreflang tags so search engines understand they are the same page in different languages and show the right one in results. Your website language is treated as the default.
Right-to-left languages
Languages that read right to left, such as Arabic and Hebrew, are rendered right-to-left automatically - no extra setup needed.
Remove a language
Removing a language from the Languages card takes its pages offline. If you add it back later, Promino re-translates it on your next publish.
